Sergey Vladimirovich Mantserov

Sergey Vladimirovich Mantserov (born June 2, 1957, Penza) is a Russian artist and sculptor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2012).

Wife — Olga Anatolyevna Trushnikova (born 1963), Russian artist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2012).

Biography

Born on June 2, 1957, in Penza, he lives and works in Moscow.
In 1979, he graduated with honors from the Penza Art College named after K. A. Savitsky.
In 1989, he graduated from the Department of Monumental Painting, Faculty of Monumental Art at the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry.
Since 1991, he has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists and the Association of Moscow Sculptors.
In 2010, he was awarded the silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.
In 2012, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts from the Department of Painting.
He is a curator of exhibitions at the Moscow Union of Artists and a member of the Board of the Moscow Painters Association.

Artistic Activity

Key works in painting:
A series of works about saints venerated in Russia. Among them: “The Miracle Worker” (canvas, oil, 180×140 cm, 2012), “Saint George” (canvas, oil, 200×150 cm, 2018), “Boris and Gleb” (180×140 cm, 2017), “Panteleimon the Healer” (180×120 cm, 2017), and others.
A series of works about the Moscow Metro: “Marxistskaya Station. Transfer” (canvas, oil, 160×340 cm, 1991), “Rush Hour” (140×230 cm, 2021), “Escalator” (170×180 cm, 2020).
For 10 years, he worked on the project “Temple of Svetovid”: a series of paintings and sculptures dedicated to ancient Slavic mythology and the last pagan temple of the ancient Slavs in Arkona, on the island of Rügen. The core of the project is 12 monumental canvases, each depicting stories inspired by zodiac signs. Among them: “Under the Sign of Sagittarius” (canvas, oil, 150×200 cm, 2004), “Under the Sign of Aquarius” (canvas, oil, 150×200 cm, 2006), “Under the Sign of Gemini” (150×200 cm, 2005), and others.
Main works in monumental sculpture: "Monument to E. I. Roerich and N. K. Roerich" (Moscow, Znamensky per. 5, 1999), the monument "Moscow-Petushki" (Moscow, Ploshchad Borby, 2000), the project titled "Rest in the City" dedicated to the residents of the city of all ages: "Young Mother," "Friends," "May 9," "Architect," at the boulevard near Mikhaylovsky pond, Zelenograd, Moscow.
Sergey Vladimirovich is also the author of several memorial sculptures of widely known people: the monument to People's Artist Vladimir Troshin; the monument to Nobel laureate astrophyiscist Vitaly Lazarevich Ginzburg; a memorial plaque to the first director of FSUE NII NPO "Luch" Professor Mikhail Vasilievich Yakutovich—one of the developers of the atomic bomb; and a monument to the first president of RAO UES Anatoly Fedorovich Dyakov.

His works are in the collections of the Roerich Museum (Moscow), the L. N. Tolstoy Museum (Moscow), and the Zelenograd Art and History Museum.
