Author about himself

I work quickly, fearing to miss the most important thing, which to me is the state of the soul... Affirming themes have quietly entered the subjects of my paintings: love, joy, music. I love free drawing, sharp contours. 'Likeness' does not concern me; I value expressiveness more.

Critic

There Were and Are Legends of Absheron. Ashraf Geybatov (Geybatli) is an Azerbaijani living in Moscow... He started as a painter with a narrow national focus. His early compositions were inspired by eastern tales and legends, illustrations of his native history, and landscapes of his homeland. His techniques include compositional centrality, saturation with human figures, ornamental elements, items of national life, national costumes, decorativeness and detail, and a refined play of festive colors. Ashraf is a real expert in eastern culture and literature, and some illustrative quality inherent in his early works was soon replaced with associative-poetic thinking... M. Tsyplakova
