Danilov Viktor Anatolyevich
Born on February 3, 1946, in Leningrad. Graduated from the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School named after V.I. Mukhina in 1969.

Author about himself
The way I think today does not mean I will think the same way tomorrow. Therefore, I do not adhere to a fixed credo in art. I want to stay in the saddle as long as possible, and when I can't, I'll get myself a carriage.
Critic
Danilov works successfully in various types and genres of fine art, including as a sculptor. His favorite material is wood. Looking at his graphic series and paintings, one can almost hear the cracking and tapping of this traditional Russian material. Some of his drawings are variations of his paintings and sculptures. Their marked spatiality and clear constructiveness confirm the sculptural quality of his graphics and the graphic nature of his sculpture. At the same time, as an artistic personality, Danilov is consistently purposeful and organic. His main influences are Russian lubok, Picasso, medieval wooden plastics, and 20th-century pop art. Yet he remains a distinctly Russian artist and our contemporary, sensing the beauty of national folklore and the sharpness of contemporary expression.
