Born in 1957 in Moscow.
Studied painting with B. Birger, T. Selvinskaya, T. Salakhov.
Graduated from the Moscow Art School in Memory of 1905 in 1978.
Graduated from the V.I. Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute in 1985.
Has participated in exhibitions since 1978.
Awarded the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists' prize for works in 1988.

Critic
The paintings of Ekaterina Kornilova are highly dynamic, yet possess what can most accurately be described as epic qualities. Their dynamism is nourished by timeless sources—the personality of the person she paints, the music of a revealed landscape, the light of art that has reached us from the past like starlight. The contrast between these fundamental artistic interests and the movement of her brush may seem significant to the uninitiated viewer, as Kornilova's canvases never indulge everyday consciousness or simplified perceptions of art. Yet, no matter how profound her focus on professional interests, it is valuable that she doesn't retreat into the cold realms of speculation or merely retrospective values, but paints what pains and delights her as much as her contemporaries. Despite the seeming arbitrariness of brushwork and the elusiveness of forms, her works assert the beautiful and the elevated. In her canvases from different years, especially the landscapes, there is a sense of the vastness of Russian space, about which she worries as about a living person and perceives the lines of Nikolai Klyuev: 'Bitter news has come to us, that there is no longer a native land.'
