Leontiev Sergey Valentinovich
Born in 1962 in Kharkov.
Graduated in 1987 from the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after Lenin (Faculty of Philology).
1989-91, member of the 'Direct Photography' group, Moscow.
Since 1994, member of the Union of Art Photographers of Russia.

Author about himself
A photographer is compelled to express his understanding of reality through the very forms of that reality, which is much richer than our notions of it. This inevitably leads to conflict. In striving to master the environment and subject its external forms to his will, the photographer becomes involved in a specific relationship with the world. This is a kind of creative coexistence between the artist and the reality he interprets, and it is this, above all, that attracts me to photography.
