Vladimir Borisovich Soskiev
Vladimir Borisovich Soskiev (Ossetian: Soskytï Barisi furt Vladimir; born January 14, 1941, Surkh-Digora, North Ossetian ASSR) is a Soviet and Russian sculptor, monumentalist, and educator. Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts (2007), People's Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania (2009). One of the most significant contemporary sculptors, whose work organically connects the classic traditions of the Russian sculptural school with ancient Ossetian culture, mythology, and spiritual world. Soskiev's works are held in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art, the National Gallery of Sofia, as well as in private collections in Russia, France, Germany, Belgium, and Romania.
