On a long oval, gold-framed base, a hunting figure is depicted in medieval clothing, wearing short riding boots, light-colored trousers, a short, fur-trimmed, fir-green overcoat, a violet-yellow flowing cape, and a hat adorned with feathers. Underneath the horse is a leaping hunting dog. The painting is polychrome. It is either by Gustav Oppel, artist's mark "G. Oppel," or by "Kilian." Manufacture mark. Height: 77 cm. 77 cm x 31 cm. A dynamically moving group of figures by the sculptor and porcelain modeler Gustav Oppel (1891-1978), born in Volksstedt. Oppel, who came from a family of porcelain makers, studied under Joseph Wackerle at the Berlin Museum of Applied Arts and also created designs for the oldest Volksstedt porcelain factory, as well as for the Rosenthal, Fraureuth, and Unterweissbacher Schwarzenburger workshops.
