Empress (Tsarina) Elizabeth I Petrovna Romanova of Russia. Colorless glass, cut. Lightly ascending disc foot with ground rosette in wedge and olive cut. Baluster shaft with large, incised air bubble, facetted or honeycomb facetted. The conical cup is honeycomb facetted, on the front side a highly polished oval medallion, in which the finely cut, partially gilded, ligatured monogram "EP" of the Empress (Tsarina) under the Russian imperial crown, framed by branches; gilded lip rim. Height: 16.2 cm. Provenance: North German art collection, acquired in the 1920s in the Berlin art trade; probably from the possession of the former Empress and Tsarina Maria Feodorovna, born Princess of Denmark (1847-1928) at Hvidovre Castle.
