A German Westerwald salt-glazed stoneware tankard, made of light gray clay, with cobalt blue painted decoration. The decorative design covers the entire surface and is incised, stamped, and applied. There are five high-oval cartouches with stylized leaf tendrils, framing of flower rosettes and stems, vine tendrils and grapes, stylized tendrils, leaves, pearl friezes, and scale patterns. The pewter lid is adorned with a ball thumbpiece, according to the work of Master Jacob Friedrich Flach, Nuremberg, active from 1799/1800, see Hintze, Vol. II, No. 495. Height: 26.5 cm.
