Year letter mark. Scepter mark. Height 37.5 cm. Berlin-born Paul Miethe, born in 1864, established a style of flower and fruit painting at KPM Berlin. He taught numerous painting apprentices in this so-called soft painting, which had a lasting influence on the porcelain design of KPM. Miethe completed an apprenticeship as a decorative painter, was hired as a flower painter in 1883 upon completion of his training, and worked as an assistant to artistic director Alexander Kips until 1890. In 1894, he was appointed as the head of painting, a position he held until 1914. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of KPM Berlin, Miethe was awarded the title of professor. I. v.
