Oval, curved pedestal with four elongated, tongue-shaped feet. Sitting on it, a bear turning back with raised head and open mouth, showing its teeth. Accentuated on-glaze painting in violet and brown tones with gold contouring. Possibly by Max Esser, 1925. Possibly marked "M. Esser". Model number H 263. Some minor restorations; underglaze blue crossed swords mark and impressed mark of the centerpiece "Reineke Fuchs". Height 17 cm, width 26 cm, depth 10 cm. Esser created the impressive 75-piece table ensemble "Reineke Fuchs" between 1919 and 1926, based on the epic by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, which represents the most significant Gesamtkunstwerk of the Pfeiffer era with its animal sculptures.
