On an ice floe-shaped, elongated-oval base, a young couple dances in a sweeping waltz rhythm, wearing ice skates. The polychrome underglaze painting is adorned with touches of gold and silver. Rarely formed Jugendstil group by König, who modeled several individual figures and groups with winter motifs for Meissen around 1905-1912. Alfred Otto König (1871 Rudolstadt - 1940 Meissen) initially worked for various ceramic factories in Thuringia and Teplice. Already in 1896, the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory acquired his first models before employing him as a modeler in 1897. In addition to figures with winter themes, König's broad oeuvre also included Japanese groups, children and costume figures, fashion models, and models of athletes.
