The handle is covered with green enamel over a patterned guilloche ground and adorned with applied gilt silver overlay depicting scroll foliage motifs set with ruby cabochons and surrounding the red enameled K cipher intertwined with a diamond-set anchor, possibly for Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich, 1876 to 1938, captain of the Russian Imperial navy.
