RARE ANTIQUE RUSSIAN PORCELAIN PLATE WEDGWOOD, HAND PAINTING
Antique Russian porcelain plate by Wedgwood, 19th century, cabinet plate depicting the Moscow Kremlin with merchants on a bridge over the Moskva River, with trade decor in the foreground, along with a charming galloping dog in color.
The rim is adorned with the double-headed eagles of the Romanov family, as well as three different images of horses and loaded carts.

The plate has several Wedgwood markings on the back related to the participating artists and the design styles used.
CONDITION: Good.

SALES HISTORY: A few years ago, similar Wedgwood plates sold at Live Auctioneer for $5,500 and $7,750.

WIKIPEDIA: The Fairyland Lustre design was created by Daisy McKeague-Jones. She began her career at Wedgwood in 1909. From 1916 to 1941, she was responsible for creating and expanding the Fairyland Lustre line. You could still buy something from this line as late as 1941. However, production had nearly stopped by 1931 due to the global economic downturn. Only 14 out of 101 patterns were available for sale after 1931. Most of the most important Lustre pieces were made in the 1920s. Fairyland Lustre is popular today because it is not only completely different from what Wedgwood was producing at that time but also has a completely unique appearance. Much of the porcelain used black or orange as the background color. It was then decorated with fairies, elves, goblins, and ghosts of all colors and sizes.
