Long, elegantly curved feather pen tray with kidney-shaped recess for quill pens, accompanied by a usable inkwell with stylized bud knob. Fan-like accented Art Nouveau decor. Above, a fully sculpted depiction of a reclining female nude contemplating herself in a hand mirror. Sparse on-glaze painting in blue tones with subtle gold accents. The sculptor Arthur Lange (1875-1929) studied at the Meissen Drawing School and Modeling Academy from 1891 to 1895. Between 1895 and 1898, he attended the Dresden School of Arts and Crafts. From 1898, he worked as a modeler in Meissen until he left the manufactory in 1908 to work as an independent sculptor in Dresden.
