For many years, Dresden was the center of Saxon porcelain production. In 1872, a porcelain manufactory was established in the suburbs of the city. Its trademark is a sign of Saxon elite porcelain. Under the Dresden trademark, rare and unique porcelain is produced by hand.
The artists of the Dresden Manufactory achieved high mastery in transferring painting motifs—landscapes, portraits, etc.—onto porcelain items. The dominant style of the manufactory's porcelain is Baroque, but it was also influenced by Empire and Classicism.
