Artist's Creative Biography
Efoshkin Sergey Nikolayevich, painter and artist, member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the International Association of Art (IAA/AIAP UNESCO).
Born on September 7, 1960 in Moscow.
Graduated in 1978 from the Moscow Secondary Art School at the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute of the USSR Academy of Arts.
In 1988, graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute of the USSR Academy of Arts (Faculty of Painting, "Portrait Workshop").
1988-1991 – Teacher and head of the Department of Painting, Drawing, and Composition at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture.
1992-2002 – Artist at the V.V. Vereshchagin Professional Artists Studio.
2001-2002 – Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Work at the Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute of the Russian Academy of Arts.
Since 1984, participant in group and solo art exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
In 1989, by order of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in interior mural works for the USSR Embassy in Spain.
1988-1989 – Author of a cycle of illustrations for the collected works of Russian writer N.S. Leskov (Pravda Publishers, 8 volumes out of 12).
1993-1995 – Work on murals in Orthodox churches in Moscow.
1995 – Laureate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Prize in literature and art.
1998 – Awarded a diploma and medal of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts.
1999 – Winner of the international competition for mural painting at the "San Pales" hotel, Sapporo (Japan).
2002 – Winner of the competition for wall painting at the memorial church of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
2001-2010 – Author of the design and illustrations for the books: "Igumen of the Russian Land", "Legends of Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra and Miracle Worker", "Venerable Sergius of Radonezh", "Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker", "Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir and Princess Olga", "Before You..." (monograph album), "The Alphabet in Russian Proverbs".

The artist works in the genres of historical painting, portrait, landscape, book design, and illustration. Sergey Efoshkin is the author of pictorial historical cycles: "The Life of St. Sergius of Radonezh, 14th Century", "From the History of the Russian State", "The Life and Miracles of Saint Nicholas the Miracle Worker". He is also the author of the design and illustrations for the books: V.P. Stolyarov's "The Legend of Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra and Miracle Worker", O. Kastkina's "Venerable Sergius of Radonezh", as well as the Novospassky Monastery's publication "The Alphabet in Proverbs".
A separate direction in the artist's work has become his murals in Orthodox churches in Moscow. S. Efoshkin is a multiple winner of various national and international competitions, and is actively involved in exhibition activities. It is worth noting his highly successful solo exhibitions held in many cities of Russia, as well as abroad. His works are in governmental institutions of the Russian Federation and private collections in many countries around the world.
